BALULE COMMUNITY & ANTI-POACHING TRUST

Protecting Our WildlifeThe Balule Community and Anti-Poaching Trust (BCAP Trust) supports vital conservation and anti-poaching initiatives within Balule Nature Reserve and the Greater Kruger ecosystem. Through wildlife protection, aerial surveillance, rhino conservation, animal welfare programmes and ranger support, the Trust helps safeguard endangered species and preserve one of South Africa’s most important wilderness areas for future generations

The Balule Community and Anti-Poaching Trust (BCAP Trust) plays a critical role in protecting the wildlife and natural ecosystems of Balule Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park.

The Trust was established to support conservation efforts, combat poaching and ensure the long-term survival of endangered species within this internationally important wilderness area. Through the generosity of donors and conservation partners, BCAP funds a wide range of initiatives that directly contribute to wildlife protection and habitat preservation.

Key conservation projects include:

• Wildlife security patrols and aerial surveillance
• Anti-poaching operations and ranger support
• Rhino dehorning and rhino protection programmes
• Snare removal and trap monitoring
• K9 unit training and veterinary care
• Animal welfare, relocations and rewilding initiatives
• Habitat protection and ecosystem restoration

Balule forms part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem, where fences between reserves and Kruger National Park have been removed, allowing wildlife to roam freely across a vast protected landscape. Protecting this wilderness requires constant vigilance, highly trained field teams and ongoing conservation investment.

By supporting the BCAP Trust, donors help ensure that wildlife security teams remain active in the field, aircraft remain operational for aerial support, and critical conservation projects continue to protect rhinos, elephants, predators and countless other species.

Together, we can help secure a future where wildlife and wilderness continue to thrive in the Greater Kruger region.

Why It Matters

Wildlife is at the forefront of eco-tourism, job creation and community empowerment; and the illegal practices of snaring and poaching for perceived medicinal and/or bushmeat purposes are pushing species toward extinction and threatening local livelihoods.
